Dolen is a picturesque village in Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria and is listed as an architectural reserve.

I first discovered the village in 2015 as a participant in a heritage preservation workshop by the “Meshtra” NGO. We worked on updating the list of heritage items and documented many architectural details in order to complete the existing registers.

Two years later, already as a part of the “Meshtra” team, I came back to Dolen to organize and mentor another heritage preservation workshop, this time more specifically designed as a field practice for architecture students.
